Non-Alcoholic Christmas & New Year’s Cocktail Recipes

ZEO Martini without Alcohol

When it comes to spending December sober, Christmas and New Year’s Eve can be two of the biggest hurdles. Whilst this year is somewhat different, there’ll still be lots of Zoom events or boozy dinners. Staying off the sauce shouldn’t mean you miss out. Luckily, there are plenty of non-alcoholic Christmas cocktails to see you through to the end of December. And this year it’s even better because you’ll have ZEO.

We’ve created some delicious non-alcoholic drinks for New Year’s Eve parties and Christmas Day. Plus, you’ll find some top tips on how to make your own recipes.

Creating the Perfect Alcohol-Free Recipe

In a month where your time is split between family events, socially distanced picnics (brrr!) and eating unholy amounts of cheese, time is of the essence. The last thing you want to be doing is spending half an hour meticulously crafting cocktails. We reckon the easier your non-alcoholic Christmas cocktail recipe is, the better.

When creating your own recipe for alcohol-free Christmas cocktails, experimenting is key. Try mixing no-alcs with your favourite tonic or mixer and see what happens. Try mixing different spirits together or get festive using pine and berries as part of the recipe. Top tip: you’ll normally need to use more alcohol-free spirit than you would with an alcoholic version.

When it comes to New Year’s drinks that are non-alcoholic, it needs to be extra special. We’ll be saying goodbye to 2020 after all. Have fun experimenting with alcohol-free prosecco and rich flavours. As long as it’s low/no, you’ll be feeling ZEO on New Year’s Day.

New to the alcohol-free drinks game? No problem. We have a great guide (not-so-subtle brag!) on how to create the ultimate home cocktail bar. Why not give it a read before getting started?

Christmas & New Years Non-Alcoholic Cocktail Recipes with ZEO

Creating your own Christmas recipes from scratch can be pretty labour intensive. That isn’t mentioning all the ingredients you may go through trying different combinations. So, if you lack the time to invent your own recipes, here are some alcohol-free Christmas cocktails we made earlier…

ZEO Alcohol-Free Kir Royale

A Kir Royale typically oozes sophistication and with a deep red colour, it’s perfect for Christmas. That’s what makes it one of the best non-alcoholic Christmas cocktails. That’s right, we took the classic and removed all the alcohol, especially for the festive period.

To make, take your champagne flute and add chilled 70ml ZEO Botanical Dry, 60ml sparkling grape juice and 10ml blackcurrant cordial. Garnish with a blackberry or raspberry for an added festive flourish.

ZEO Cosmopolitan Twist without Alcohol

The ZEO Cosmopolitan Twist is one for nights spent celebrating. Perfect for parties in a normal year, for 2020 it’s great for Zoom festivities. Normally made with vodka, a Cosmo is the liquid embodiment of a good time. And an alcohol-free Cosmo is no different.

Simple pour 70ml ZEO Botanical Dry, 30ml cranberry juice, 10ml lime juice and 5ml sugar syrup* into a cocktail shaker. Add ice and S H A K E. Strain into a coupette or cocktail glass and garnish with an orange twist.

ZEO Non-alcoholic Winter Negroni

This popular cocktail is an Italian Aperitivo favourite and until recently an alcohol-free Negroni was hard to achieve. But not anymore. This recipe is a little ingredient heavy. But once you have them all in stock, you’ll be enjoying alcohol-free Negronis all month long.

Fill a rocks glass or low tumbler with cubed ice and add 60ml ZEO Botanical Dry, 10ml Monin bitter syrup and 30ml Martini Vibrante. Stir and garnish with a cherry and a cinnamon stick. Enjoy!

ZEO Spiced Oak & Coke

Love the ease of a whisky and coke or a rum and coke? Well this one’s for you. We reckon our ZEO Spiced Oak & Coke non-alcoholic drink is perfect for drinking throughout December. And it couldn’t be easier to make. Just add 50ml ZEO Spiced Oak and 125ml coke to a glass, add ice and stir. Cheers!

ZEO Alcohol-free Winter Spritz

We all know that a Spritz isn’t just for summer, but it’s always nice to switch it up a little. So, we set about creating a special non-alcoholic Spritz, especially for winter. You’ll need a few ingredients for this, but luckily, they’ll see you through till Jan.

Add cubed ice to a balloon or wine glass. Pour in 70ml ZEO Botanical Dry, 70ml pressed apple juice, 40ml kombucha, 10ml honey water and 2 dashes of Peychaud's bitters. Stir and drink.

Remember, Peychaud's bitters are alcoholic. If you’re happy with a dash of alcohol, then don’t change a thing. If you don’t drink at all, then swap them out for some alcohol-free aromatic bitters.

ZEO Winter Espresso Martini

As we round off the month, so arises the biggest challenge – New Year’s Eve. In other years you might have gone to a bar, party or even a club. The global pandemic (yes, you know the one…) means celebrating will be a little more low-key. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a great time. If you’re celebrating New Year’s Eve over Zoom, then staring at a screen until 00:01 calls for a little caffeine boost. Enter the ZEO Winter Espresso Martini.

It’s pretty easy to make. Simply shake 80ml ZEO Spiced Oak, 50ml espresso and 15ml sugar syrup with some cubed ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain it into a coupette, martini or cocktail glass. For some extra festive feels, garnish with a pine spruce and a dusting of cinnamon.

*Sugar syrup sounds complicated, but it couldn’t be easier. Either buy a bottle in the supermarket or take 5 mins out of your day to make your own. Simply heat 150ml water over a low heat, add 300g caster sugar and stir until dissolved. Wait for it to cool before bottling it and storing it in the fridge. If you make your own syrup, do yourself a favour and make one batch to last you through December.
