Does the idea of hosting your very own drinks party in the comfort of your own home sound like the perfect night in? Want to show off your impeccable taste in drinks to friends and family? Why not create your very own home cocktail bar- perfect for all occasions.
In the current 2020 climate, it’s fair to say we’ve all spent a lot of time in our own homes so why not create a space that invites you to shake things up and enjoy an ice-cold drink in the comfort of your living room.
From dedicating an entire room, to simply clearing space on a shelf, creating your own home bar doesn’t have to be time-consuming nor cost the earth and you’ll be surprised at just how many of the items you already have at home. Why not give it a go and create a cocktail bar?
Getting the right equipment for your bar
Before deciding where to place your bar, have a quick count of your glasses. Depending on what you want to serve, you’ll need a good number of glasses if you want to entertain guests. We’d recommend a variety of traditional cocktail glasses, tumblers and of course, the classic wine glass as a good starter for ten. Once you’ve established a good amount of glassware, you can build on your collection as and when.
After glasses, you’ll need to invest in a good cocktail mixing kit that typically contains a shaker, strainer, a measuring cup known in the industry as a jigger and a muddler which is the long stick used to mix and crush your ingredients inside the shaker.
Once you have the glasses in place, it might be a good time to start thinking about the drinks. Are you serving a mix of alcohol and non-alcoholic options? We’d recommend at least supplying the basics in spirits and of course, ZEO, whilst supplying a couple of different mixers that compliment them. Ensuring your drink’s selection is well-stocked will impress even the fussiest of guests.
We probably don’t need to tell you that having enough ice is also essential so stock up on ice cube trays so you can always keep your cool when hosting a drinks party.
Once you have these in place, you can start deciding on where best to have your home bar. With so many options available to suit all living spaces, a home bar doesn’t have to dominate the room- rather be a sophisticated addition to any space.
Great home bar ideas
A home bar doesn’t have to mean a whole new DIY project- why not try clearing a couple of bookshelves or investing in a portable drinks trolley you can wheel out and put away again. If you’re feeling creative, there are plenty of great ideas on Pinterest for transforming trunks, cupboards and shelving into Insta-worthy home bars.
Some essential drinks for your home bar
Once you’ve got your setup, you’ll need some extra supplies such as drink recipes. We would always recommend having at least three types of highly versatile mixers such as soda or tonic water, cola and a fresh juice such as orange or cranberry. Along with a couple of spirits of your choice, these mixers will help provide a base for a range of cocktails you can make at home.
Why not give one of our original ZEO recipes a go and let us know just how well it goes down at your next social gathering.
